Introduction to NuVolta's 15W Small-Size Ultra-Thin Magnetic Power Bank All-in-One Solution
2025-02-17

Background

In recent years, magnetic wireless power banks have gained great popularity among users due to advantages like immediate use upon attachment, no need for plugging/unplugging, and portability. Simultaneously, users have also raised new demands for products: making them thinner and smaller; having good thermal performance; featuring convenient software upgrade capabilities, etc. Based on this, NuVolta has launched a set of the industry's simplest magnetic wireless power bank solution: the 15W NU17113 + NU6801 Magnetic Power Bank Solution. This solution is particularly suitable for small-size, ultra-thin 15W MPP magnetic power banks.

02 Solution Introduction

The 15W Magnetic Wireless Power Bank solution NU17113+NU6801 is a dual-chip architecture with four key features:

  •    Industry's Highest Level of Integration: 2 main ICs integrate wireless, wired, and protocol functions. Supports 2C+1A applications.
  •    Especially Suitable for Ultra-Thin, Small Form Factor Applications: Combined with the high integration mentioned above, the wired charging part supports high voltage, eliminating the need for an MPP boost circuit. Additionally, the wired charger can support a 1.1MHz operating frequency and the use of 1.5uH small inductors.
  •    High Performance: No charging interruption during simultaneous charging and usage; user-friendly EMI characteristics; Kelvin sampling for detecting small currents; new package offering good heat dissipation.
  •    Maintainability and Scalability: One-time software upgrade for both wired and wireless functions; integrates multiple I/O ports.

Supports 2C+1A, suitable for small-size, ultra-thin applications (Thickness: <7mm; Length: 58mm; Width: 20mm).

For the wired charging part, it supports 18W 9V/2A input; 18W 9V/2A output; 22.5W PPS output capability; supports BC1.2 / SCP / FCP / AFC / QC3.0; PD PPS Source.

For the wireless part, it supports 15W MPP.

Because the solution integrates a high-voltage Buck charger (19V output), no additional boost circuit is needed, saving cost and PCB area.

Main IC: NU17113

The NU17113 integrates a high-performance MCU, smart power full-bridge, four demodulation paths, MPP switching capacitor drive, wired charging protocol circuits, etc.

   Integrates a 32-bit 36MHz MCU core, 8kB SRAM, 128kB flash.

Four demodulation circuits: Vcap, Phase, VDM, Iavg. These four demodulation paths switch flexibly based on load, input, and output voltage, solving the charging interruption issue in scenarios like simultaneous charging and usage.

Integrated User-Friendly EMI: Integrates frequency dithering and drive speed switchable between 10nS and 40nS, making EMI resolution easier.
